Crazy Laughter || Friday Favorites

I have a habit of getting to know someone *really* well ..... right before I move away.  Always.  It never fails.  Maybe it's because I spend all day with someone packing boxes.  Maybe it's the fact that I realize that it's the last day I get to see this person without 900 miles between us.  Either way, it happens, and Kimberly is one of these friends.

While packing up my CD's (yes internet, I still play CD's) we realized that we had the exact same taste in music and decided that one day we *will* go to CMA Fest together.  We recited quotes from lots of favorite movies.  When I got to TX I found out that she wrote little notes on some of the box lids to make me laugh while I unpacked.  But most of all we laughed together.  A lot.  I absolutely love laughing my head off, and it's nearly impossible to *not* laugh like crazy when I'm around her.  Moving away really shouldn't be THAT much fun.  But she made it fun.

After all the boxes were on the truck we decided to take a quick photo before it got too dark.  Just a side note - never tell Kimberly that she can't do something.... I tried, and this photo definitely proved me wrong that day.

Friday Favorite || (Anything But) Lazy Friday's

Today was one of those days where everything seemed to happen, and there weren't any minutes to spare.  Tomorrow is going to be a Saturday where I am actually going to be able to take everything slow - I might even be able to ride Cappie for more than 15 minutes!

Here's a little peek into Bingley's hectic schedule.  His daily routine of chasing the cat, barking off animals with the big dogs, trying to play with the ducks, throwing his toys up in the air to play, and barking at me when I'm chopping veggies in the kitchen is soooo tiring! ....

Friday Favorite || Surprises and White Roses

Today's Friday Favorite is a little different than most.  Yesterday was my 21st birthday.  Wow, I remember turning 18 and thinking "man I'm getting old" HA.  Strangely I don't feel one single day older.  Oh well, guess it will catch up with me some day.  :)

 

It was a day of web designing, trying to pour hydrogen peroxide on my horse's cut, talking with the internet provider trying to fix a problem, baking cupcakes, making up a recipe for frosting, chatting with a dear friend, relaxing, and then.... a surprise.

My dad had just pulled in the drive, walked into the house and called out "Elizabeth, could I get your help?".  Lizzy was making my favorite dinner, so I volunteered.   I was speechless.  Like speechless-speechless... when I saw him.  In his hands were 2 dozen of the prettiest white roses that I've ever seen.  

 I now have a new favorite flower..... :)

 

After the shock was finally over, lots of hugs and thank-yous, the first thing I thought about was grabbing photos while there was still some light outside.

 

 

Earlier yesterday morning Lizzy handed me a little package of adorable hair sticks!  I had been wearing "knitting needles" recently.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Knitting Needles.  Now, for all those knitters out there - don't judge ;-)  They did their job just fine.

The photo session wouldn't have been complete without my baby.  I've told Mr. Bingley that he needs to work on his eye-contact skills, but he just won't listen.

Friday Favorite || From Coffee Filters to Perfection

I started out using coffee filters -- but that's for another blog post :)

Meet the best  $104.95 I ever spent:  The Expo Disk  -- today's friday favorite.

I'm in love with this little circle of glass.  Just look at what my camera thought was "normal coloring"...

And here is what the ExpoDisk said was normal....

It's a huge difference!  Neither of those photos were edited at all.  They were both **right out of the camera**.....ahhhhh  It saves SO much time post processing -- I never have to worry about color-correcting again.

White on one side, honey-combed on the other... it's a magic jewel.

Don't want to spend $104.95 right now?  Do you drink coffee?  I'll show you how to make your own ExpoDisk for *free* in a later post!  I can't tell you how much I adore the real ExpoDisk, and wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world, but sometimes, a coffee filter is all it takes.

Friday Favorite || Lew Sterrett

Tuesday afternoon my Allie friend told me that Lew Sterrett was going to be in Boerne that night -- talk about last minute change of plans!  After a few phone calls, and some dinner prep, Lizzy and I took off to the event.  

It was truly amazing how he compared the relationship between trainer and horse, to God and us.  If you are able to see his S.O.T.M. you will absolutely love it.  He has a page on his website with his event schedule.  

Throughout all of the learning, we were able to see some very trained horses, horses that were not trained at all, and a few "tricks" that made us laugh.

This was a horse that was not broken, and that was very scared of plastic tarps....

after 20 minutes, Lew Sterrett was able to brush the tarp all over the horse's back, and lead him around...

His horse galloped around the arena completely blinded by the tarp.... Talk about trust!

This was a neat segment!  Dr. Sterrett controlled this horse without reins!  He sped up, slowed down, changed directions, then dashed at full speed right toward the gate, said "whoa" and the horse immediately stopped.  He used hand movements, legs, and voice... that's it.

On the way home, the lil' sis and I stopped at Starbucks for the fun ending to a fun night. 

I can't wait to get back to the farm and start working with Cappie!

Friday Favorite: Shootsacs + Rubber Boots

It was a cool day last spring… and “another” TN rain made our creek rise too much to cross in our car, but at least we still had electricity :). 

Then it happened.

I received the email stating that my Shootsac had been shipped – and would be delivered within the next few days.  I was ecstatic!   

A couple days later I decided to take the ¼ mile hike with Lizzy to see if my package had arrived.  A large green and black box wrapped in a plastic bag sat across the creek from us holding my shootsac.  Our problem?  The creek was still rushing pretty hard, and it had just started to rain… again.  I had to get my shootsac before it started raining too hard, but I was in flip-flops – my favorite shoes ever :).  Lizzy took one look at my feet, and started crossing the creek in her rubber boots (her favorites), stepping on rocks along the way to rescue my package.

Isn't it adorable?!?!?! There are lots of different covers to choose from, and they are held on by super-strength velcro!   

It holds 3 of my lenses, or 2 lenses AND my camera, plus there are 3 back pockets for extra memory cards, my iPhone, and keys!

<3 <3 <3 it :)  

My 70-200 2.8 never felt so safe! :D

So if you're looking for a lens/camera bag that is super safe for your lenses, and extremely comfortable to wear even while you shoot, this is definitely a bag for you to look into.

I'd love to introduce yall to the cutest Bichon Frise EVER! .....my awesome dog Bingley!  ....yes his name came from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice :D

We don't always stick to "Bingley", he is also known as Bingles, BeBe, Bubba and as my dad affectionately calls him "Flea Bags"....which I don't really like :)

Well, after seeing this picture, and remembering when I took it, I just had to add a side note:  I think Bingles would want me to give a 'shout out' to his AMAZING dog sitter when I'm out of town, as well as my AMAZING friend, who just happens to be an AMAZING photographer!  Whew!  This gal is simply ....well...amazing!  :D  Yall go on and check out this amazing site, won't you?
